Rocafella's 'ROC Digital' Hooks Up With Hitachi!

Source:foxxylady

Rocafella's ROC Digital, a consumer electronics company that specializes in designing and marketing products for the tech savvy, urban lifestyle has chosen Hitachi Global Storage Technologies as the exclusive hard drive provider for its new line of ROCBOX portable audio players. Designed as the signature accessory for the fashion-forward audience, the ROCBOX will use Hitachi's compact Travelstar C4K40 1.8-inch hard drive to offer 20 GB* of storage capacity without sacrificing style.

In a separate announcement today, ROC Digital announced that its ROCBOX line of portable audio players will launch exclusively at CompUSA and Macy's stores by early November, in time for the holiday gift-buying season.

"With Hitachi's support, we're able to equip the ROCBOX with the high storage capacity that music-lovers demand, while incorporating it into a sleek black and chrome plate-cased device," said Shae Hong, president of ROC Digital. "We have a particular and distinctive vision for how our series of ROCBOX players should look and perform -- one that wouldn't have come to life if it weren't for Hitachi's innovative approach to hard drive engineering."

As part of the agreement, ROC Digital will include the "Hard Drive by Hitachi" logo on every ROCBOX audio player to signify the high quality and integral role that the Travelstar C4K40 plays within the device.

"It's our vision, in designing the 1.8-inch Travelstar, that style moguls like ROC Digital will take advantage of the drive's contrasting diminutive size and ample capacity to create a distinctive product like the ROCBOX," said Robert Holleran, general manager, 2.5-inch/1.8-inch Consumer & Commercial Hard Disk Drives, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. "After so many years of being a component for corporate storage solutions, we are delighted to see hard drives play so prominently in the cross section between technology and popular culture."

Hitachi's compact 1.8-inch drive was designed for mobile applications that require high performance, high capacity and energy efficiency in a small form factor. At 20 GB of capacity, Hitachi's drive will offer ROCBOX users approximately 600 hours of listening enjoyment. A fashion statement with supreme functionality, ROC Digital's 20GB ROCBOX portable audio player gives consumers the ability to carry more than 5,000 MP3, WMA and/or WAV audio files and will retail for $299.99.

"When approaching our first ROCBOX player, it was important to create a device that -- much like the philosophy driving The ROC family of brands -- emphasized contemporary design and style," said Katie Papoutsis, creative director and designer of the Roc Digital ROCBOX. "We incorporated elements of aerospace and automotive technology and combined them with sleek metals and soft rubber to create a 'fashion statement' that not only appeals to both men and women but has all the features."

ROC Digital is a division of the ROC, which also includes Roc-A-Fella Records, Roc-A-Fella Films, Dash Films, Rocawear, State Property, Team Roc, C.Ronson, RyanKenny, Pro-Keds, America Magazine, Armadale vodka and Tiret watches.

ROC Digital is led by a consortium of partners that include Damon Dash, Kareem "Biggs" Burke, Josh Taekman, Shae Hong and Danny Lavy.
