• 1995: Begins writing and producing with Michael Jackson. Scores three hits of his own from self-titled pop crossover album, including "Down Low (Nobody Has to Know)."

• 2003: Seven of the 21 charges against Kelly are dropped.

• 2004: Kelly and Jay-Z reunite for a tour and second album -- "Unfinished Business." Kelly arrives 2 1/2 hours late for second night of the tour. After cancelled dates and Kelly's midshow walk-outs, Jay-Z calls off the remainder of the tour.

Kelly sues Jay-Z for $75 million, accusing the rap mogul of sabotaging their tour.

Decade-old footage (yep, another sex tape) of Kelly surfaces.

Separates from wife, Andrea, after nine years of marriage and three children.

"South Park" spoofs Kelly in the controversial Scientology episode, which features a cartoon Kelly and Tom Cruise "Trapped in the Closet."

Kelly wins the Stevie Wonder Award for Outstanding Career Achievement at the 2006 Soul Train Awards.
