Jay Z Arranges Limo Services To Aid Transit Strike, Gives Toys To kids
Source: soundslam

Shawn “Jay Z” Carter understands that as a successful rapper and businessman, he is a very fortunate individual. And in the name of the holiday spirit, Jay Z is reaching out to help a handful of hard-working people that are struggling to get to work amidst a massive New York City transit strike. Several million people have been affected by the overwhelming transportation halt.

Carter has made arrangements to send one limo to the Bronx to pick up seven people, one limo to Queens to pick up seven individuals and two limos through his native Brooklyn to aid 14 workers attempting to make it to work on time despite cold weather and long walking distances.

Jay Z was featured on Angie Martinez’ Hot 97 radio show to speak on the issue. Martinez stated “Jay-Z has arranged to hook a few people up with a ride to work.” Continuing, the host said “We really want to give these to those people that are walking across that bridge every morning - the people that got to go to work. Those are the people we want to give these rides to.”

The Brooklyn-bred rapper and current Def Jam Records President followed up by extending a request from others to pitch in. Carter said, “Now, we gotta get people to send over some hats. Everybody should participate. Some gloves, too. Some boots. Let’s spread it around.” Jay Z’s positivity was highlighted when he concluded, “It’s Christmas season. Everybody get into the giving mood. We are all blessed.”

New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg has spoken out against the detrimental union strike and cites that the city is losing huge quantities of money each day that negotiations are not met. It is estimated that roughly $400 million a day is lost without the transit system in full working order. Even more, another $22 million per day is expected to be lost in taxes and police overtime pay.

Meanwhile, the Def Jam head honcho is also giving back to his former childhood community by hosting his annual Marcy Projects Toy Drive. Carter has made arrangements for $10,000 worth of presents to be available on Christmas morning at 11 a.m. for children to come pick one from. Bringing some extra excitement for the less fortunate children is the primary goal for Carter’s toy drive.
