Hip Hop breeds damn fools Source:
Shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday (December 21), police received a 911 call reporting the stabbings at club Exit, where the party was being held. At the party, which was intended to be a celebration of the album release earlier that day, two men, Rayes Cruz and Walter Cougar, had been slashed in the face, and a third, Jonell Williams, was stabbed in the stomach. According to The New York Post, the stabbings occurred in the VIP room of the midtown club.
Police are also investigating a near-by shooting that occurred around the same time. It is unclear whether the violent acts are related.
Minutes before the police were called to Exit, patrol officers responded to gunfire in a parking garage in lower Manhattan and found three men with gunshot wounds. Thomas Riggs was shot in the stomach, while his friend Jemayei Luckett, was grazed in the leg. Lauarr Hunter, who did not know Riggs and Luckett, was shot in the arm. All six individuals were hospitalized.
No arrests have been made in either incident, but detectives believe the fight began over either a diamond bracelet or a woman, with the attacker smashing a champagne bottle and using it as the weapon.
Meanwhile, authorities questioned the occupants of a car seen driving away from the scene of the shooting.
Authorities could not confirm reports that Sean "Diddy" Combs and Notorious B.I.G's mother, Voletta Wallace, attended the party.
Diddy and Ms. Wallace co-produced the album, which is being billed as "the final chapter" of the slain rapper's career. Biggie was murdered in 1997, but several posthumous albums have been released. The latest features artists such Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Nas, as well as producers Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Jazze Pha, and Just Blaze.
