Note: A Manager guides the careers of their Artists. Some of what they may at times be responsible for are listed below:
All Live Performances -
Where, when, and how often to tour Billing slots for their Artists Which Booking Agent to employ
Pre-tour business decisions such as: Status and signing of contracts Riders “Housing” Equipment Road Manager/Crew - Sound, Lighting, Security, etc… Compensation Day-to-day tour business decisions such as: Staying in sync with Road Manager and other Crew Security Expenses Booking holes in schedule Radio station and other promo visits at each stop Receiving Artists’ compensation, etc.
All Tour support -
Securing people and sponsorship Sound and Lighting Having qualified people at every position in entourage.
All Promotion -
Making sure everyone is on, and stays on the same page, image-wise, that Management wants for their Artists and actively doing their job carrying out the plan. This includes: Publicist, Record People, Agents, etc. Making sure Record Company promo people are doing their job supplying the proper quantity and best copy, advertisements; and area promo people regarding record store and area venue promos, etc. A Great Web Site!!! Television/Film -
Right shows and films for Artist Commercials Videos are in place locally, nationally, internationally.
Videos -
On each video: staying in sync with directors etc., daily requirements of Artist, crew members, Musicians, whomever.
Coaches -
Acting Singing Dancing (choreographers) Image consultants Note: After Mgmt. chooses the above coaches, Manager is making sure they are all carrying out their duties, and that Artists' transportation, etc., are covered.
Musical Material -
Producers Songwriters All dealings with contracts, etc., with each, and scheduling.
Press -
Making sure… The press Broadcast Video networks Cable Radio Wire services Reporters Feature writers Syndicated columnists Music press Web Sites, etc.,
… are covering their Artists constantly, fully and correctly.
Press Kits -
Photos [up-to-date!] Press releases Recordings Video tapes/enhanced CDs, DVDs Bio’s etc. Note: all of the above + constantly updating them and making sure they get in the right hands.
Merchandising -
Tee shirts, etc., etc....: Includes all dealings with products and companies. Overall, and at each tour spot. Your Web Site
Fan Club -
Picking the right person[s], overseeing all aspects, business-wise and otherwise, making sure these people are “taken care of.”
Markets -
Making sure all existing markets and potential markets, locally, nationally, and internationally, are covered recording, and promo-wise where Artist is doing well and not so well, or is being ignored.
Record Companies -
After deal is made, making sure everyone and everything is MOVING! And everyone is on top of the situation and is in sync with Management and all other third parties working on The Project.
Contracts & Lawyers -
All paperwork is in sync., signed and moving including bookings, merchandising etc., etc., etc.
Financial Accounting -
Setting up, keeping day to day books with incomes, deposits, receipts for expenses, etc., etc.
Day-to-day dealings -
With all of the above, including: Artists, Crew, Producers, Promo People, Record Companies, Agents, Attornies, etc.)
By: Phone calls, faxes, travel, etc. handling all regular, important and emergency situations.
Office -
All is clean, neat and organized Computers, programs, Internet service - all up-to-date
