Just Watched 'Death of a Dynasty'
Source:me
Yesterday Morning I woke super early at about 7am....mostly because I have two other people sleeping in my room for the time being....good thing they my homeboys..anyway I popped in the pre-street rental from Blockbuster that was Death of a Dynasty. At first view I noticed that this(along with Paid in Full) one of the only Roc-Dash films that has 'real' special features, and not just a trailer. The movie has a plethora of BEAUTIFUL women....so many that my friend( Te-lo) and I had a constant 'Damn' face during the movie. The movie is for all intents and purposes another rap 'Spinal Tap', joining the ranks of 'Fear of a Black Hat' and the more widely known 'CB4.' And in doing so it does cut it's self off from people not at all familiar with rap and more importantly the old Roc-a-fella Records. Watching the movie I couldn't help but notice the slightly prophetic movie's retelling of stuff that recent events have changed. From the movie Dame Dash's diss record against the movie Jay-Z to the XXL articles that had a little bit of heat buried in the interviews. For fans of Roc-a-fella and what it stood for and what it used to be, you'll defintely get the great number of references which were kindly aimed at us. In several hilarious parts, Kevin Hart(Paper Soliders, Soul Plane) plays P.Diddy, Biggs spokesperson, Dame Dash's 'dance teacher'. Other members from the very funny Paper Soliders make appearances, namely Charlie Murphy(although in a very small role, and as a jamacian). Dame Dash even gets his Hitchcock on by appearing in the movie a couple times. The main 'white guy' reporter does a alright job, but most of his part consists of simple embrassing run in's with famous black people. Loon shows up in his second Dash movie(1st being State Property 2) once again in a small role. The ending makes you kinda wish that life would imitate art, but I'll leave that for you to ponder after you've seen the movie.
Charles Rating:** 1/2 out of 5-I LOVED IT BUT ONLY ENJOYABLE FOR A CERTAIN CROWD(ROC-A-FELLA Fans)
If you like this movie do yourself a favor and check out: Spinal Tap, Paper Soliders, Fear of a Black Hat, CB4
