Beanie Sigel Releasing New Album While Imprisoned
Source:
He may be in jail, but that won’t stop the new Beanie Sigel release from coming out on schedule.
The rapper’s new record, The B. Coming, will be out March 29 and the first single, "Don’t Stop," is currently available online, but only on AOL. The disc will be the third release from the newly formed Damon Dash Music Group.
Sigel has been in jail since November 8 — serving a year in a Philadelphia prison for gun possession — so he had a lot of help getting this disc in stores. Snoop Dogg makes an appearance on the single and it was produced by The Neptunes. Other tracks feature appearances from Just Blaze, Buckwild, DJ Scratch and Cam’ron.
Most of the disc was inspired by Sigel's legal trouble. According to the Roc-A-Fella website, Sigel worked hard to get this album done before he started doing time. They say he shot five videos in five days. He was going to call the CD The Great Depression, but after spending some time in prison his mood changed and so did the disc’s title.
Before being locked up, Sigel also found time to star in the movie State Property 2, the sequel to 2000’s B. Mac. Sigel will star alongside Damon Dash, Omilio Sparks and N.O.R.E. as a drug lord fighting his way to the top. The movie is scheduled to be in theatres April 13 from Dash Films.
Sigel’s 2001 release, The Reason, sold over 500,000 copies and hit #5 on the Billboard charts.
