Kanye Leads

 With 10 nominations, including one for best new artist, Kanye West leads the field for the 47th annual Grammy Awards. Other multiple nominees include Alicia Keys and Usher, who are tied with eight, the late Ray Charles with seven, Green Day with six, and Norah Jones, Loretta Lynn, Prince and engineer Al Schmitt each with five.
The prestigious album of the year will be decided between West's "The College Dropout" (Roc A Fella), Charles' "Genius Loves Company" (Concord), Usher's "Confessions" (Arista), Keys' "The Diary of Alicia Keys" (J) and Green Day's "American Idiot" (Reprise).
"Dropout" is also up for best rap album, while West's "Through the Wire" is up for best rap solo performance. His "Jesus Walks" will vie for the song of the year and best rap song honors. West, Keys and Harold Lilly share a best R&B song nomination for the Keys-recorded "You Don't Know My Name." West will also compete against himself in the best rap/sung collaboration with his duet with Syleena Johnson, "All Falls Down," and as a guest on Twista's "Slow Jamz," which also features actor-turned-artist Jamie Foxx.
West's slate of nominations is rounded out by a nod as one of the producers on "The Diary of Alicia Keys."
Usher's "Yeah!" featuring Ludacris and Lil Jon is up for record of the year and best rap/sung collaboration (as well as best R&B song for its multiple writers, of which Usher was not one). His nominations are rounded out by best male R&B vocal performance and best R&B song mentions for "Burn," best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals and best R&B song for "My Boo" with Keys and best contemporary R&B album for "Confessions."
The rest of Keys' nominations are song of the year and best female R&B vocal performance for "I Ain't Got You," best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals for "Diary" featuring Tony! Toni! Tone! and best R&B album for "The Diary of Alicia Keys."
Charles swan song duets album "Genius Loves Company" is also nominated for best pop vocal album, and produced a pair of nods in the best pop collaboration with vocals category -- with Elton John for "Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word" and with Jones for "Here We Go Again," the latter also nominated for record of the year. His version of "Sinner's Prayer" with B.B. King is up for best traditional R&B vocal performance and his take on "Heaven Help Us All" with Gladys Knight will vie for best gospel performance.
Green Day's "American Idiot" is also up for best rock album, while its title track is up for record of the year, best rock performance by a duo or group with vocal, best rock song and best short form music video.
Los Lonely Boys join West in the best new artist column, along with Maroon5, Joss Stone and Gretchen Wilson, while the record of the year field is rounded out by the Black Eyed Peas' "Let's Get It Started" and Los Lonely Boys' "Heaven."
The Grammy awards will be handed out during a Feb. 13 ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET (tape delayed on the West Coast).
