Reader Submission: HEY GUYS---Finish your business!!
Source:Vibe
I am writing because I am so upset at how out-of-hand Jay-Z and R.Kelly have let their situation get. I think that ultimately, everyone not involved (fans, radio personalities) should stay out of it and let it stay between the two of them. The main thing is that no one but R.Kelly knows what was going on in his mind at that time. Everyboy is choosing sides and adding fuel to the flames. For one thing it's been said that both parties had dates they didn't show up for, and there were times that neither perfomed at his best.
The bottom line is this, Kelly and Jay have both let too many other people get involved and now it's a big mess. I am a fan of Jay-Z's but I consider myself to be R.Kelly's most dedicated fan. I think that they both just need to realize that they are both "Headliners." If they handle it right neither has to try and shine above the other. I thought the purpose of the tour was to show fans how the two best performers of their genres do the thang. How can it come down to them competing against one another?
HELLO—Rap and R&B—two totally different types of music. I think it was a big mistake to change the tour. I don't know if $75 million is too much for an uncompleted tour, but I do feel restitution should be made for not being able to continue. I mean am I the only one who realizes this man is still on trial? He had to be granted permission to participate in this tour. I don't know all the facts. None of us as fans do. I just think people should stop adding and taking from it. When you have someone great in the industry it's always nice to have them around for a long, long time. But this, this is what destroys artists.
Kel and Jay, as best as I can tell, you two have been collaborating for at least seven years. That should tell you something. I think the album is tight and it deserves proper promotion from both of you. And I'm mad at both of you because I was finally in a position to go to an R. Kelly concert (nNv.12 Raleigh, NC), purchased tickets and EVERYTHING!!! But, it's cool though. I just want y'all to come to a decent compromise. Because at some point in time, you were friends.
