Two New Jay-Z/ R. Kelly Tracks Hit The Streets; More Tour Dates Announced

As more dates from the R. Kelly and Jay-Z Best of Both Worlds tour trickle in, the duo have dropped signs that there is even more to come: Kells and Jigga have two new records on the streets.

The first appears on DJ On Point's Point of No Return, Part Three mixtape and is labeled "The Return." The track should come in handy in a few weeks when the duo’s U.S. jaunt starts, because it seems tailor-made to kick off concerts. "In this arena, arena/ All we wanna see is them hands up, hand up/ This is for them hustling boys and girls/ It's the return of 'Best of Both Worlds,' " Kelly sings on the hook.

Jay commences the record, dropping references to Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh and Dana Dane while finding time to slip in some self-congratulatory rhymes: "When we does what we does, we win/ Then win again like déjà vu/ Then we win again like M.J. do/ Three-peat, then we retreat to waters that are blue..." Hov's part is followed up by a verse from Kelly where the Pied Piper of R&B raps.

The second offering, called "Don't Let Me Die," is much more serious. It's also featured on Point of No Return, Part Three and officially debuted over the weekend on New York radio station Hot 97.

Kelly raps again, with torment filling the words in his verse as he recalls growing up in the projects around pimps and hustlers. He fights with the devil and himself while pleading to God. "Sometimes I don't know what you want from me, but I do know what I want from you," he says. "Take away this Hennessey/ Take away me running the streets/ Stop people from hating me/ Take away all this jealousy."

Jay-Z's request to the higher power is no less grave, as he asks "Whatever deity guides my life, dear Lord, don't let me die tonight."

There is no official word from Roc-A-Fella, the label that put out the Best of Both Worlds LP in 2002, as to exactly when or where these songs will be officially released. The Roc, however, has released some more tour dates for Jay and Kelly's tour, including October 7 at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., October 14 at Oklahoma City's Ford Center and October 29 at Madison Square Garden in New York (see "A Dozen Dates Announced For Jay-Z/ R. Kelly Best Of Both Worlds Tour").
