Kanye Video Review: Nikki
Jesus Walks, not one, but three serious videos, broke through the norm with it's controversial lyrics and visuals, touching areas that many would be afraid to touch considering the backlash and retaliation from those who share a different belief. Kanye West's risks, intelligence and creativity showed the difference between an artist and an entertainer. When you think you saw enough of him, Kanye West debuted his fifth music video today, "The New Workout Plan."
Contrary to the seriousness of "Jesus Walks," it's a funny exercise anthem that appropriately transitions to the other side of Kanye West. Staying true to the song, considering how visually the words are, the video is just what you expect, but there are a few surprises. Cameo appearances from Mr. Farnsworth Bentley, John Legend, and yes, Ms. Anna Nicole Smith (who was perfectly castled considering her weight loss transition and trailer background from the South) made nice contributions to the video.
"The New Workout Plan," is the song that made me purchase the CD in the first place, and the timing to release the video is perfect. The song has been in rotation on radio eversince February, and releasing the video in the fourth week of September will keep it on the radio for months to come.
So if you are a woman who wants a baller, hustler, NBA Player, Gangsta or a dude with a car, take heed to the instructions given by Kanye, a baller himself. But if you are a woman, who loves herself no matter your size, continue to esteem yourself, who is going to love you if you don't love yourself? Then you don't have to worry about "eating your salad, no desert, get that man you deserve." You can get the man you deserve, by doing you.

Nikki
