BEANIE SIGEL GIVES AWAY ROCAWEAR & STATE PROPERTY CLOTHING TO PHILADELPHIA
While much has been made in the press recently of Roc-A-Fella artist and Philadelphia native Beanie Sigel’s well-documented troubles with law enforcement, little has come to light about his work in the community. For the past year, Sigel has taken part in state-run programs to speak with inner city students in Philadelphia, and has mentored many young people on staying in school and staying away from drugs. Now, with his sentencing looming in early October, Sigel – a superstar rapper, actor, and head of his own State Property clothing line - is reaching out and giving something back to the community while he still has the opportunity.
On Thursday, September 15 at 3pm, Sigel – in conjunction with Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller of the 8th Council District and radio stations WUSL Power 99 and WPHL 103.9 – gave away tens of thousands of dollars worth of State Property and Rocawear jeans, shirts and sneakers to the young men of the Waterview Recreation Center in Germantown. In light of a rash of recent homicides in Philadelphia, Sigel will use this “Peace Week” event to talk to young people about renouncing violence.
