****M.O.P. 'WEAPONS OF MIC DESTRUCTION' TOUR/GHETTO WARFARE PRESS RELEASE****

'WEAPONS OF MIC DESTRUCTION' TOUR FEATURES PHAROAHE MONCH & SCRATCH,
FORMERLY OF THE ROOTS

'MASH OUT POSSE' ROCK ALBUM AND 'MARXMEN CINEMA' MIXTAPE DUE IN MAY;
'GHETTO WARFARE' LP DUE OUT ON ROC-A-FELLA THIS SUMMER

BROWNSVILLE, NY - April 8, 2004 - To borrow a page from the Grateful Dead's handbook: "There is nothing like an M.O.P. concert." And while comparing the kings of 60's hippie-jazz-rock improvisation to the most fearsome, hardest-hitting, most 'street' duo in rap may seem ridiculous,
it's really not as much of a stretch as you'd think. As musical trends come and go, both have been renowned and respected for their genre-defying style. While sales success have been elusive over the course of a long, storied history in recording, both have built an ultra-loyal, dedicated fan base through touring extensively and remaining true to their identity and to their fans. And both put on an energized, one-of-a-kind stage show: "There is nothing like an M.O.P. concert."

Or, as Billy Danze - the towering, gravel-voiced giant who along with partner Lil Fame makes up M.O.P.'s terrible two - puts it: "We want niggas to bang they fucking head. Everybody knows that. Even motherfuckas that don't like M.O.P. know what to expect from M.O.P. and we ain't going to change that."

Now, beginning in early May, M.O.P. will kick off the 2-month, national "Weapon's Of Mic Destruction Tour" with the notorious wordsmith PharoahE Monch and Scratch, formerly of The Roots.

It's been a two-year hiatus since M.O.P. hit the road with Cam'ron, Freeway and the crew on Roc-A-Fella's 2002 "Paid In Full Tour," and going on 4 years since the group headlined a national club tour in support of it's last studio album Warriorz, but Brownsville's bravest haven't been sleepin'. After peppering the streets and mixtapes last summer with the banger "Put It In the Air (feat. Jay-Z)," the band has been hard at work completing their highly-anticipated Roc-A-Fella debut Ghetto Warfare, which has now been slated for a late-summer release. To keep the streets satisfied until then, M.O.P. will drop a double-CD mixtape on May 11th; Marxmen Cinema and Marxmen Classics will feature new, unreleased, and classic material from M.O.P.

Following a recent string of raucous, sold-out New York gigs - including an acclaimed, exclusive introduction to M.O.P.'s rock side-project Mash Out Posse at the downtown hot-spot Joe's Pub - the duo went into the studio with musicians from the NYC band Shiner Massive to create The
Mash Out Posse, a collection of blazing hard rock interpretations of M.O.P. classics like "Ante Up," "Downtown Swinga," "G Building," "Ground Zero," "100%" and more. The Mash Out Posse LP is set for release on May 25th on the group's own label, Family First. M.O.P.'s long-time producer, manager and '5th Beatle" Laze E. Laze puts it bluntly, "We're the first niggas to really get it right since Run DMC and Aerosmith."

The band will incorporate the both the rock element of Mash Out Posse and their own trademark brand of smashmouth, hardcore hip-hop into their hour-plus live set. Along with classics from their much-revered catalogue like "How About Some Hardcore," "4 Alarm Blaze" and "Cold As Ice," fans can expect brand-new material from the forthcoming Ghetto Warfare like "Put It In The Air," "Fire," "Fuck M.O.P.," and "All Of The Above."

Dates for the "Weapons Of Mic Destruction Tour" are still being confirmed, but the tour will be extensive, hitting every major and secondary market nationwide. M.O.P. is clearly up for the task. Says Fame, " I love the grind. I won't change nothing that we did. A lot of niggas came and went but we still here. You can throw on any one of our records and love it today like you loved it when you first heard it."

Stay tuned for confirmed Weapons Of Mic Destruction Tour dates and more
