Quick Notes: First "Nawz"(lol), now 9th Wonder remixes Jay-Z

Apparently, contributing the standout track, "Threat," on Jay-Z's Black Album isn't enough for production wonder, 9th Wonder. The cut has been the talk of the streets, featuring the ghetto comedic interludes of Cedric The Entertainer coupled with Jay-Z's nauseous metaphors. However, industry insiders including XXL magazine are dissing 9th for the use of the R. Kelly sample in the song, saying "Threat" doesn't hold a candle to the over 60 beats 9th initially offered to Hov. In an XXL interview, the North Carolina(YEAH BABY!!!!!!! NC REPRESENT!!!!) Producer of underground favorites, Little Brother, defended the song, revealing that Jay himself brought the sample for him to chop instead of picking from 9th's original offerings. Now, word is that 9th has revamped The Black Album, creating an alter-ego remix similar to how he flipped Nas' God's Son to make God's Stepson.

Dame Dash Talks To Time Mag

In the December 8th issue of Time Magazine, Damon Dash speaks on expanding Roc-A-Fella and its future. The feature briefly traces Dash's earlier days before going into his bourgeoning businesses and what lies ahead. Though the Roc has been known as one of Hip-Hop's premier labels, Dash now intends to branch out with Roc Music, an outlet that will group Rock, Soul and R&B acts under the Roc-A-Fella umbrella. However, don't expect Dash to sign a boy band. "This pop-music thing, it's starting to bother me," Dash says in the article. "Everything that's hot, it's going pop." While the article includes quotes touting him as the next Russell it also mentions that critics doubt Dash can survive without his star artist.
