(3/27/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Damon Dash, Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records partner, was briefly jailed on Wednesday (March 26) because of a child-custody dispute involving his 11-year-old son. The arrest in New York City was reportedly tied to the fact that Dash took the boy to California, which might have violated a custodial agreement with the child's mother, Linda Williams. Dash must appear in family court next Thursday (April 3), according to published reports.

Williams's attorney, Suzanne Kimberly Bracker, is hinting that there will be a challenge to a previous court order that reportedly granted Dash full custody the boy. Bracker, who has previously represented the mothers of children fathered by celebrities Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Latrell Sprewell, and Ice-T, explained to New York's Daily News, "Linda has excellent grounds for a change of custody."

Expect an ugly court battle over custody of the boy. Williams is claiming that the child was also recently arrested for bringing what he said was his father's marijuana to school and showing it to his teacher--the boy is now facing drug-possession charges, according to his mother. Williams told the New York Post, "He told on his father. He didn't like what was happening."
