Respectable Debut Freeway's turns out well for his first week by landing No. 5 on the billboard charts. I didn't catch the exact numebr he sold but I'm guessing around 350,000 copies. After seeing 50 cent doing so well you would think he'd get some the same out come. Thinking about why did 50 Cent sell so many. In my opinion its pretty obvious. Can you say Eminem. One year ago today most of the people who bought 50 Cent's album most likely didn't know who he was. Basically Eminem fans are riding his back. Personally if I were in 50's position I wouldn't like it. Sure I'd be selling records like crazy but no one would recognize or appreciate my real talents. Eminem is fueled by pop culture. People from the suburbs choosing who they feel should make it instead who actually deserves it. So anyone who he promotes will win. Doesn't matter if the artist is any good or not. Eminem sold the a lot of records but didn't pick up Best Album of the year. Now some maybe thinking, what about Freeway. He sold a lot and no one knew him a year ago. That is mostly ture but think about it. The ratio between the number of people who actually appreciates and copies sold is much higher in Freeway's ways court. Jay-Z's album is currently No. 16. This has been a good article.
