[Best of RocaBlog] Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Rise And Fall
by kenn on 4/20/2006 11:07:00 PM

Their Thoughts On Just Blaze's Use Of Their Voices.

For Alvin and the Chipmunks, life in the music business has taken a sudden left turn for the once wildly popular cartoon band. Working in an industry with unrelenting demands for freshness, individual drug problems, groupies and a host of other issues, the trio never managed to replicate their earlier successes. Alvin, the fearless leader of this motley crew, was always something of a big dreamer - and schemer. One of his grandiose schemes, however, cost the talented artist a few years of his life after a hare-brained bank robbery attempt went horribly wrong - even injuring his band mates and brothers, Simon and Theodore.

The brothers are currently working the chitling circuit - performing one-night gigs in any pub or dive bar that will have them. Simon, the so-called "brains" of the band, developed an insatiable taste for drugs, booze and prostitutes - even fathering a few bastard chipmunks in his seedy travels. Theodore, the portly sweetheart, has been struggling with his weight for over a decade and is now recovering from triple bypass surgery - and a failed sex change operation. The band members are currently suing the group's former manager, Dave Seville, for owed royalties and mismanaged funds. He was not available for comment. Sharing a flat on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the brothers sat down with Loosie for an exclusive interview. We managed to discuss all we could until an irate Alvin abruptly called an end to the interview.

RocaBLog: How come when you guys first came out you where so dark and now you guys are so light skinned.

Alvin: Well, they told us we had to change. They told us that we would get more jobs if we were white. People would like us better.

RocaBlog: Theo. How's the recovery from the surgeries been going?

Theodore: Do you mind if I take my shirt off? It's so hot in here. And would you happen to have some chips or something in that bag? I'm a little hungry and it's too warm for me to be walking to that bodega. Well…I feel better about myself. I'm trying to lose about 50 pounds and my therapist - we all have therapists - has given me some hope. He's such a beautiful man inside and out. My heart surgery went well…I can't eat tubs of Chunky Monkey like I used to and performing is tough sometimes. But I'm doing ok. I don't want to really talk about my other surgery just yet. I'm a little shy about that.

Alvin: He's a fag man! All that talking and he coulda summed it up by saying he's a fag. I love him though he's still a fag.

Simon: Alvin! Stop that!

Alvin: OK! OK! Sorry Theo…you little chubby fuck.

RocaBlog: Alvin, how do you feel about the music of Roc-A-Fella producers Just Blaze and Kanye West and how it correlates with the sound you tried to introduce early on? The sped-up vocal samples seem eerily reminiscent of the work you've done in the past.

Alvin: I think it's rather fucked up how he's stealing our shit. I fucking sent that "Oh Boy" shit to Cam'Ron like a while ago. I said "Yo Cam….look out for your boy!" and this guy's like "Cool…I'll do that". But NO!!! Just Blaze comes out with this "Oh Boy" shit and I'm here sharing this shithole with these two losers. I did that hit, man. Why can't Just Blaze and the Roc go on and admit it?? And that fucker Styles from the Lox?? That fucking "I Get High" shit?? I did that too. Guess what? NO FUCKING LOOT COMES MY WAY! I'm taking Roc-A-Fella out. I'm gonna do a whole diss LP taking those fuckers out…plus that battle shit sold a lot of records for that weak ass Nas LP. I take notes…I do my homework.
...

This isn't the entire thing. If you want to here more of my interview hit me up in the ShoutBox.

[Best of RocaBlog] Q-Don Conspiracy: The Cover Up!
by kenn on 4/20/2006 11:00:00 PM

Around the time The Blueprint was released last year there was alot of things going around. The mother of a died rapper said her son's song was stolen. The song was called "All I Need" from The Blueprint. It seems the producer of the song sold it to the ROC and got paid. But the rapper's, Q-Don, family did get paid or somthing like that. The mother felt Jay didn't have much to do with it so she didn't blame him.

I learned all of this through the radio and they actually played the original song in question with Q-Don rapping on it. I have to say the song is basically the same. Its the same beat but slower tempo I would say. In the versions Q-Don keeps saying "All I need" folllowing something different. In the Jay version he doesn't say that until the chorus. Some were thinking that Jay stole the lyrics but if you listen to the song you can tell that to switched alot of things.

by kenn on 4/16/2006 12:55:00 PM

Haey, whats going on ROCFans. Just to let you know I have to pay my webspace bill on the 17th . That would be no problem except that last week I lost my Wallet and my Checkcard is gone and every other ID, which means I'm broke. So I can't pay the bill so the site may go down but I may just host the site on blogger.com so don't worry. If the site is down just keep on visiting.

So I'm most like going to use a blog template so it may lok a big different. So just to let you guys know. Peace, Holla!

LL Cool J Slams Jay-Z
by kenn on 4/15/2006 03:03:00 PM

Source:

Hip-hop star LL Cool J has hit back at Jay-Z for his comment that fans have no interest in hearing middle-aged rappers.

The rapper believes that there is no age-limit when it comes to making good music.

The 38-year-old has been making music for over 20 years and has just released an album featuring Jamie Foxx and Mary J Blige.

He explains, "Thank God I'm not 45, so I don't have to answer that question."

"Hopefully I'll be able to do music for a few more years and have some fun."

"I don't think there's an age limit. The dreams don't have deadlines."

"Just because you're younger than me doesn't mean you're cooler than me."

Jin Speaks on 'F Jay Z' Track
by kenn on 4/14/2006 11:47:00 PM

Recently, DX ran a story about Jin's F*ck Jay-Z track. It even made our Hot Trax section. This week, Jin sat down to speak to us about his inspiration for the track and others, including the Dora The Explorer assisted Backpack, Backpack which quarrels with the terms "backpack" and "commercial".

"I think as an artist, you always should achieve to create records that are not only creative and unique but also ones that can have some sort of affect on people," he said of inspiration for the most recent tracks.

According to Jin, Jigga hasn't contacted him personally about the F*ck Jay-Z track.

"No sir. I didn't really expect to.. However, knowing that someone asked Jay in a chat about the song and him giving that response was enough for me!" he said.

During the chat, Jay said the track was "clever".

Currently Jin is working on Spitcam, which is the first webcam emcee battle ever.

Jin and Live Digital put this together for emcees to test their skills and ultimately try to win a grand prize.

"SpitCam was basically created with the intentions to take the whole "online battling" thing to the next level," he said.

Ne-Yo is a sex machine [Damn]
by kenn on 4/13/2006 10:23:00 PM

R&B crooner Ne-Yo says he is addicted to sex. The chart-topping singer/songwriter talks about his sexual exploits in the May issue of 'Vibe' magazine.

"I'm Sammy Davis [Jr.] and Bugs Bunny with some porn mixed in," Ne-Yo, 26, tells senior editor Laura Checkoway, in his first big magazine profile. The Arkansas native's debut album, 'In My Own Words,' hit Number One on the charts upon release last month off of the strength of the Number One single 'So Sick.'

The article also delves into the Def Jam Records crooner's background: growing up in a Las Vegas low-income housing project raised by a battered mother ("beat like a man" by his father, he shares) who also worked as a casino cocktail waitress. The Quincy Jones-founded magazine reports that Ne-Yo was born Schaffer Chimere Smith, and was an original member of R&B group called Envy, which also counts 'American Idol' cast-off Corey Clark among its original line-up. (Last year, Clark made very public allegations that he had a lurid sexual relationship with show's judge Paula Abdul).

"I became a complete whore," Ne-Yo confesses, "I might possibly have had sex with every girl in my 11th grade class … it went from like, nothing to like, three and four a day."

Elsewhere in the story, the father of a baby son named Chimere, Ne-Yo refers to his sexual appetite as "a slight addiction" and said that now he "helps himself" instead of "doing a groupie."

Late last year, Ne-Yo, who penned 2004's most played single, 'Let Me Love You,' (performed by Mario), was selected for AOL Breakers campaign, which predicted he will be the new artist to make noise in 2006. His album sold more than 301,000 copies in its first release. 'So Sick' is currently Number Seven on 'Billboard's Hot 100 chart, after 19 weeks.

Ne-Yo, recently toured with John Legend and just wrapped filming for 'Save the Last Dance 2,' the follow up to the 2001 film. 'In My Own Words' has sold 657,185 copies since its release on Feb. 28.
